We had an easy drive here, only getting mixed up on one bridge. Those of you who know Pittsburgh driving understand how easy that is to do!
After check-in, we met in our conference room for dinner. The kids were split into 5 different countries and were served a meal from each country. They were China, India, the Dominican Republic, Germany and America.
Some kids liked the food served to their countries. Some did not! Some did not get enough to eat. Some did.
The point was to expose the kids to a different culture and show some what it feels like to go to bed hungry.
Following dinner, our guest speaker on the trip, Jon Schaadt, took us through our first session in missions training. He had many great points to get us thinking. To summarize, he shared Identity-Worldview-Mission. If we claim we our Christians, our identity is in Christ. That should shape how we see the world, though His eyes. That should cause us to act and take on His mission. It was a great session.
We finished the night with some pizza, as we didn't want them to really have an empty stomach as we need them strong and ready to go tomorrow as we serve at World Vision.
Thanks for reading and for praying for us. I will update again in the morning with some pictures.
Good night!
-Eric
